Thanksgiving & Fun

Friday, November 27, 2009
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that everyone enjoyed their time together feasting and remembering what we are all thankful for.
In my devotional I was reminded that we are to thank God even in the midst of dark/hard times because focusing on that which we are thankful for will lead us to see what is beautiful & peaceful.

Here are a few things we have been doing this Thanksgiving season!

Turkey with removeable feathers, I stuffed my turkey! - all made with felt.
I got this idea from My Montessori Journey.

Fall sensory tub filled with silk leaves, black beans, garbanzo beans, wooden alphabet blocks, little people, dominos & of course cups for sorting & scooping! The kids **LOVE** this!

Thanksgiving Day bracelets. another from My Montessori Journey. I looked hard for the book but couldn't find it, was really bummed about that. But there is a great printable note about the reason for the beads and what each represents, so was still simple to apply to Thanksgiving & the meaning behind it. I plan to buy the book from Amazon for next year! The kids really enjoyed making these bracelets and I was even suprised at how well Effy was able to slide the beads onto the pipe cleaners!

Turkey Hats! I made one for Effy & Keke made hers with some help. We got this idea from Family Fun. The instructions weren't very clear on some things, like how to make the wings, I decided to trace the kids' hands but bubbled around them rather than staying close. Since Effy refused to wear his, I wore it for a while :)
